Was this a miscarriage?

A month before finding out I was pregnant last year, I experianced really bad cramps, I couldnt sit, stand, or even lay down without being in such pain! I was on my period and used a tampon, but when I went to change the tampon I ped a clot, but it wasnt dark dark red like regular clots look like, it was just weird, not like normal....after ping that, I felt so much better! The clot wasnt real big or anything, but I felt better after I ped it.....I have no clue if that would have been a miscarriage or not.....A month after that happend, I found out that I was pregnant. Could I have been pregnant with twins and one of them just didnt make it in order to form? Sorry if there are some TMI parts in this question.
